Flow Sensitivity
The flow rates required to actuate the F29 MK3 Series flow switch depend on many variables — turbulence, liquid viscosity, and the exact area of the paddle face exposed to the flow. For an accurate estimate of switch performance and to determine the effect of paddle trimming, use our online paddle calculator.
3-Phase Pump Motors
The F29 MK3 switches can be used to control either single-phase or 3-phase pumps, provided a 220–240 V AC or 24 V AC supply is available at the installation site. For 3-phase motors the F29 drives an interposing contactor which switches the motor itself — see the Pump Controller Power Calculator to size the contactor and check cable/voltage drop.
Application Restriction
The F29 MK3 is an industrial control device, specifically designed for use in industrial, agricultural and mining applications. It must never be used for any other application. Installation must be carried out by a qualified pump engineer, and all electrical work by a licensed electrician.
Hazardous Areas
The F29 MK3 is not certified for use in hazardous areas and must not be installed in any area classified as hazardous under AS/NZS 60079.10 (Zone 0, 1, 2, 20, 21 or 22). Suitability of the F29-D models for diesel refers only to the chemical resistance of the wetted materials. Where a pump handles flammable liquids, the controller, which has its flow sensor built in, must be located outside any hazardous area.
